Student Elected to National Nursing Board

AtlantaMercer University nursing student Tonya Brown of Rex is one of 10 students from across the nation recently elected to the Board of Directors of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA).

Brown, a third-year student pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing degree at Mercer’s Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, will serve as the Breakthrough to Nursing Director for NSNA. Her responsibilities include working with fellow nursing students across the nation to increase the number and diversity of students choosing nursing as a career. With more than 30,000 members, NSNA is the premier organization for nursing students. Brown was elected at the organization’s annual week long convention in Nashville, Tenn.

With more than 100 years of experience in nursing education, Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is the only nursing school in the Southeast to require three years of clinical training. Located on Mercer University’s Atlanta campus, the College offers students access to more than 40 metro area health care agencies and provides students with a broad base of nursing skills in addition to its degree programs.
