A Grand New Season of Entertainment

323

The new season at The Grand Opera House, Mercer’s premier performing arts center, begins with a trio of diverse music events. The Royal Drummers and Dancers of Burundi inspired the World Music and Dance Festival and have toured internationally for more than five decades, bringing the dance, music and culture of their Central African homeland to life, thrilling audiences of all ages. They take the historic stage at The Grand for the inaugural event of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

Perfect for audiences of all ages, “All Hands on Deck!” hits The Grand on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2:30 p.m. Based on Bob Hope’s 1942 USO tour to the troops in the field, “All Hands On Deck!” is a new, two-act revue featuring singers, dancers, comedians and a nine-piece big band performing the songs, dances and laughs that America has loved since the 1940s. On-air antics, classic commercials, timeless songs and hilarious, impromptu skits power the radio show until the performance comes full circle with a big patriotic finish.

October gets off to a rockin’ start as Brass Transit, the Toronto-based Chicago tribute band brings the jazz rock tunes of this 80s hit group to the stage. Enjoy all the hits from Chicago’s golden age performed by world-class horns, a rockin’ rhythm section and sky-high vocalists. Brass Transit blasts The Grand on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
