MACON-Mercer University student Emanuel Istudor is bringing a new meaning to the word missionary. The freshman engineering student has found a way to combine his computer savvy with his desire to help the less fortunate.   And thanks to his insight, a group of orphans in the tiny, economically depressed country of Moldova are soon going to have access to computers. It's the result of a club Istudor formed called the Engineering Missions Team.   The group of 9 Mercer engineering students have spent the past semester collecting old and used computers that they can revamp to make them suitable for a school of orphans in the country north of Romania. Mercer Law Professor Patrick Longan, holder of the William Augustus Bootle Chair in Ethics and Profesionalism, was named by the American Bar Association as the recipient of the second National Award for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching Professionalism.
ATLANTA- The Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy Community Pharmacy Residency Program recently received accreditation from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. This is the only accredited community pharmacy residency program in Georgia.   "Receiving accreditation is a tribute to the quality of our residency program and will serve as a catalyst for continuous quality improvement. I am especially proud of this recognition because it is the first accredited community pharmacy residency program in the state," said H.W.            ATLANTA - Susan S. Gunby, dean of Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University, was the first Georgian to ever be recognized with the National Student Nurses' Association's (NSNA) Leader of Leaders award at the group's annual convention in Baltimore last spring. Winners of this award, which is only given once annually, must provide motivation and generate enthusiasm for NSNA involvement and for the nursing profession, exhibit and teach professionalism, and encourage students to continue their education and professional involvement after graduation.

VIRGINIA, Liberia - The group of Mercer University faculty and staff in Liberia for their Mercer On Mission trip celebrated the inaugural "Mercer Day" on June 10 with their hosts, the Ricks Institute, in recognition of the partnership between the school and the University. Ten Mercer student-teachers from the Tift College of Education, three faculty members and four mentor teachers in the country for the Mercer On Mission trip.
