Macon- Observing various types of classroom environments is a requirement of teacher education students at most colleges and universities. Mercer University's Tift College of Education recently added a twist to this common practice. Six education students had the unique opportunity to observe classrooms in Scotland over the summer.   As a part of the Mercer Study Abroad program, these education majors, along with two professors, spent 11 days in Scotland and England. MACON - Stacey I. Harwell of Valdosta, Ga., took home two top honors when she graduated from Mercer University this month. She is the 2007 recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and the Wallace Odell DuVall Excellence in Leadership Award.
MACON, Ga. - Mercer, the Atlantic Sun Conference and PlayON! Sports, a division of Turner Sports announced today that they will launch ASun.TV on Tuesday, Sept. 11. A new Web service, ASun.TV will webcast a minimum of 540 regular-season and championship games across a variety of A-Sun sports, including men's and women's basketball, soccer and volleyball, as well as baseball and softball throughout the 2007-08 academic year. The first scheduled event will feature a women's volleyball match-up as the Mercer Bears host the Georgia State Panthers tonight at 7 p.m.

ATLANTA - Mercer University's Southern School of Pharmacy will kick off a new community-focused pharmacy education program with a free lecture on ways to reduce medication costs at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, at Mercer University's Cecil B. Day Campus, 3001 Mercer University Dr., just off I-85 inside the northeast perimeter.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens will host a special Botanic Musicale featuring The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi on Wednesday, April 25, at 7 p.m. Admission is free of charge. The concert will feature students from Mercer's Robert McDuffie Center for Strings performing with Grammy Award nominee and Center founder, Robert McDuffie, violin, and Elizabeth Pridgen, the G. Leslie Fabian piano chair in music. This concert is one in a series to honor longtime Macon civic leader and honorary Mercer alumna Neva Langley Fickling.
