MACON - Mercer University's student newspaper, The Cluster, placed third in a recent national newspaper competition, sponsored by the Society for Collegiate Journalists. The contest, sponsored yearly by the Society for Collegiate Journalists, is open to all 155 colleges and universities that have chapters.
  WHO: High school students from across the state, including one student team from each Buford High School, Buford; Campbell High School, Smyrna, and Columbus High School, Columbus, and two teams each from Savannah Christian Preparatory School, Savannah, and Westside High School, Macon.   WHAT: Botball - student teams from Georgia high schools compete in a series of challenges using robots they built and programmed. It is part of a national Botball competition sponsored by the KISS Institute for Practical Robotics.   WHEN: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 16.   WHERE: Mercer University Macon Campus, University Center Arena   BACKGROUND: This is the fourth year Mercer has hosted Botball in Georgia. MACON - Bill Jones III, chairman and chief executive officer of the Sea Island Co., will be the featured speaker at The Executive Forum on Tuesday, April 26. He will give a dinner presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the Presidents Dining Room at the University Center on Mercer's Macon campus.   During the past decade, few Georgians have had a better seat at the state's table of influence than Bill Jones III. As chairman and chief executive of Sea Island Company, Jones served as the host for the G8 Summit that brought President George W. MACON, Ga. - Mercer University presented John D. Dortch, of Tallahassee, Fla., with the Louie D. Newton Award for General Excellence during commencement on May 10 in the University Center. Mercer University President William D. Underwood presented him with the Louie D. Newton General Excellence Medal - one of two top awards given to Mercer undergraduate students.
MACON - On Oct. 23, Jimmy Carter, 39th president of the United States, will deliver the Second Annual Mercer University President's Lecture at 3 p.m. in Willingham Auditorium on Mercer's Macon campus. The address will cover themes from President Carter's best-selling book, Our Endangered Values: America's Moral Crisis. This is a ticketed event.

MACON - Mercer's Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics will hold a free MBA information session at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, in Warner Robins.
