ATLANTA/ MACON - The Princeton Review named Mercer University's law and business programs among the nation's best today, announcing that the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics in Atlanta and Macon was among the "Best 296 Business Schools" in its 2009 book and that the Walter F. George School of Law was among the "Best 174 Law Schools" in the 2009 edition of its law schools guidebook.
MACON - A Mercer University student group is going far beyond Earth Day, celebrated every April 22 since 1970, to educate students and the public on ways to reduce their impact on the environment. The events will run from April 18 through April 25 and will offer new ideas for ways individuals can enhance the global environment by making changes in their own lives. The group planned the events in and around Mercer's Macon campus as part of its Second Annual Earth Week celebrations.
MACON - Mercer University announces the appointment of Michael Steven Leonard, Ph.D., as senior associate dean of the School of Engineering, effective June 1. In this new role, Leonard will work closely with Mercer School of Engineering Dean Dayne Aldridge to provide general oversight of the School of Engineering and represent the School to internal and external constituencies. He will be responsible for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Program and the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management Program.  He also will assist with the Center for Excellence in Engineering Education and the various activities required for maintaining accreditation. MACON - Mercer University, in partnership with the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School, will hold a conference, titled "Caring for Creation: A Scientific and Theological Response," on the Macon campus Oct. 29-31. The conference will include two days of lectures and discussions on Oct. 29 and 30 and will conclude with a green day of service in the Macon community on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The 2008 Law Day program honored members of the Law School Class of 1948, who were observing their 60th year reunion. The Honorable Jim Marshall, who represents Georgia's 8th Congressional District and a former faculty member at the Law School, saluted the Class of '48 in his keynote address.
