Math Department Hosts High School Competition

WHO: A record number of 36 high schools from across the state, including local  teams from Macon’s Central High School, Mount De Sales Academy, Stratford Academy, Jones County High School, Perry High School, Upson-Lee High School, Washington County High School, Warner Robins High School and First Presbyterian Day School.
 
WHAT: High school teams will face off in a daylong math competition with a pen and pencil component in the morning and a fast-paced ciphering contest in the afternoon, in which students will have two minutes to complete complex math problems. Mercer Math Department faculty and students will serve as judges.
 
WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 13, 9:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 – 3 p.m.
 
WHERE: Mercer University School of Medicine Auditorium, off Mercer University Drive.
 
BACKGROUND:  This is the 20th year Mercer University has hosted this high school math competition. Winners from this competition will earn points that will help them advance to the state math competition.
