MACON/ATLANTA – Mercer University honored faculty and staff for their years of service at Retirement and Recognition Ceremonies in Macon and Atlanta.
In addition to honoring retirees and current employees who had reached service milestones, one Mercer Spirit Award was presented at each of the ceremonies. The Spirit Award recipients were Penni Hartley, center coordinator in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and art teacher at Roberts Academy, at the Macon ceremony on April 10; and Margie Bowen, assistant director of wellness, at the Atlanta ceremony on April 8.
The Mercer Spirit Award is a community-based recognition that reaffirms Mercer’s commitment to customer service and satisfaction and recognizes employees who exhibit exceptional behaviors of caring, respect and the building of the Mercer community. It also recognizes two employees who have demonstrated a high level of service to members of the University community, both internal and external, as well as outside constituencies. Their accomplishments reflect a high level of service, dedication, conscientiousness and compassion, and going beyond what are normal expectations.
At the Macon ceremony, retirees honored included Stephen Brown, James S. Netherton, Martha Malone and Tanya Sharon; and retirees not participating in the Macon ceremony included Sybil Blalock, James Drummond, Daisy Floyd, Timothy Floyd, Jeff Takac and Brent Walker.
At the Atlanta ceremony, retirees honored included Nicholas Marudas, Judy Mosteller and Jeff Wolfe; and retirees not participating in the Atlanta ceremony included Candace Barnett, Steve Hamilton and Ellen Perlow.
