Jonalyn Hidalgo is graduating from Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in biology and Spanish.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on working as a medical assistant before applying to physician assistant school!

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

While I have many memorable experiences at Mercer, one of my favorite memories is going to Bearstock in 2024 and 2025. Both years were filled with so much joy and fun surrounded by friends.

What was your favorite class and why?

My favorite class at Mercer was microbiology. This class was very interesting, and the content was helpful in understanding how microorganisms affect our lives and have so much impact at such a small size. As it is a pre-requisite for physician assistant school, I am confident that the materials from microbiology did prepare me and will show up again in the future.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

I advise incoming students to get out there and get involved! Nothing will impact your experience at Mercer more than getting to know other people through clubs and different organizations.

What makes Mercer special to you?

Mercer is beyond special to me as it provided incredible opportunities and amazing people into my life. While at Mercer, I was able to study abroad twice, and if it weren’t for Mercer and their great study abroad office I would have never had these opportunities and experiences. Mercer’s motto to major in changing the world can become real when you start to experience the world and apply what you have learned to your everyday life. I have grown as a person while at Mercer, and I cannot imagine the type of person I would be today if I did not come to Mercer!
