Quinecia Styles Smith is graduating from Mercer University’s College of Education with a Bachelor of Science in Education in elementary/special education.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I aspire to be a teacher in the Coweta County School System. I plan to pursue my master’s in educational leadership and launch a nonprofit for children to help them attend college.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Dr. Sylvia Cain is my favorite professor. She is relatable, structured, fierce, compassionate and always created a safe place for me to ask questions!

What was your favorite class and why?

I enjoyed student teaching and classroom management. I was able to apply the knowledge I gained at Mercer to the classroom.

How do you plan on changing the world?

I plan to change the world by being a light. I can change the world by loving myself, loving others and being authentic in my actions when doing good for others. I can demonstrate grace and kindness, refrain from being judgmental, and accept others for who they are.

How did Mercer prepare you for your future?

I feel confident to walk into any school and teach any grade.

What makes Mercer special to you?

I’ve always viewed Mercer as prestigious. Attending Mercer and being a graduate from Mercer, I feel important. I feel that coming here changed my life. I feel so confident and valuable.
