Madelyn Mauro is graduating from Mercer University’s School of Business with a Master of Science in business analytics.

What are your plans after graduation?

I hope to continue to explore data analytics professionally before getting my Ph.D. Eventually I’d like to teach analytics.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor was Dr. Myriam Quispe-Agnoli, associate professor of economics, because I learned more in her class than from any other professor. She was a straight-shooter, and she understood my personality so well. She’s the reason I loved this program so much and the reason I want to teach.

What was your favorite class and why?

My favorite class was data mining. It was the hardest class in the program, but once it clicked for me, it was like magic. Getting algorithms to work and see the actual usable results was amazing.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

It will never feel worth it until it’s done, but it’s so worth it.

How did Mercer prepare you for your future?

Mercer provided tangible skills to put on my resume. Our professors taught us programs and techniques I was familiar with but not enough to show on my resume or to employers (until I learned them at Mercer).
