WHO: Mercer University students and the Mercer Film Producers


WHAT: “Mercer Idols” – Ten Mercer students will perform before a live audience and the show will be taped so that the audience and television viewers can cast votes to determine a winner over the course of the five shows.


WHEN: 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 19 – 10 contestants perform 1 min. each


7 p.m., Wednesday, March 26 – 6 contestants perform 1 min. each

7 p.m., Wednesday, April 2 – 4 contestants each perform an entire song

7 p.m., Wednesday, April 9 –Remaining 2 each perform two songs

7 p.m., Wednesday, April 16 – Review competition throughout the production and announce the winner


WHERE: The Co-op, Mercer University’s Connell Student Center, 1400 Coleman Ave., Macon


WHY: Inspired by the popular Fox Network television show, “American Idol,” “Mercer Idols” lets students showcase their vocal talents. The show is taped by Mercer Film Producers, a student-run organization, set up to produce original content for airing on television. Each fully edited program airs on Channel 99, the campus channel provided in agreement with Cox Cable to run movies and student created content for on-campus residents. Students will be able to watch the show and then cast their vote via e-mail.
