Nursing Students Receive National Scholarships

AtlantaThe National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) recently awarded four students in the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University the Promise of Nursing Regional Scholarship. Only 160 nursing students nationwide, and 17 students in Georgia, received the award.

Third-year student Christine Fancher and second-year student Susan Garcia of Marietta, second-year student Jackie Janus of Atlanta and fourth-year student Anneka Mussell of Fairburn all received a $5,000 scholarship administered by the Foundation of NSNA. The funding for the program was provided by Georgia hospitals and health care agencies, Johnson & Johnson and other national companies in support of nursing education.

With more than 100 years of experience in nursing education, Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is the only nursing school in the southeast to require three years of clinical training. Located on Mercer University’s Atlanta campus, the College offers students access to more than 40 metro area health care agencies and provides students with a broad base of nursing skills in addition to its degree programs.
