Mercer Hosts Competition for High School Mathematicians

WHO:  Thirty-five teams from high schools across the state will be competing in the Mercer High School Mathematics Competition. The area teams will include:  Central High School, First Presbyterian Day School, Houston County High School, Jones County High School, Mount De Sales Academy, Perry High School, Trinity Christian School, Upson-Lee High School and Warner Robins High School.
 
WHAT:  High school teams will face off in the daylong Mercer High School Mathematics Competition with a pen and pencil component in the morning and a fast-paced ciphering contest in the afternoon, in which students will have two minutes to complete complex math problems. Mercer Math Department faculty and students will serve as judges.
 
WHEN:  9:45– 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11,
 
WHERE:  Mercer University School of Medicine Auditorium and the Willett Science Center Auditorium, both off College Street, accessible from the South Entrance of the Macon campus, off Mercer University Drive.
 
HISTORY: This is the 22nd year Mercer University has hosted this high school math competition. Winners from this competition will earn points that will help them advance to the state math competition.
