Brittany Morgan Lee has been appointed as the first full-time executive director of the Mercer Athletic Foundation, according to John Patterson, Mercer senior vice president for university advancement. Her appointment is effective Nov. 1.

Lee currently works for the Atlanta Braves organization in corporate partnerships and sales, where she is responsible for business partnerships in the Southeast and activation of clients’ marketing requests, including signage, displays, promotions and hospitality.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Brittany join us in such a key fund-raising role at Mercer. Prior to becoming athletic director, Jim Cole did an exemplary job in the grassroots development as executive director of the Athletic Foundation in a part-time capacity,” Patterson said. “Now, we are eager to see our athletic fund-raising efforts steadily increase with a full-time executive director on board.”

Prior to assuming her position with the Braves, Lee worked from 2005 until May 2010 with the University of Georgia Athletic Association. Her responsibilities included representing the interests of the student body in the Athletic Association’s budgeting and capital expenditures, designing group ticketing initiatives and collateral for group sales and premium seating, managing web auctions for sales in memorabilia and fan experiences, maintaining working relationships with donors and season ticket holders, and creating new ticketing distribution method for more than 22,000 student football ticket orders.

“With her experience working with the Atlanta Braves and University of Georgia athletics, it is obvious that Brittany has been exposed to successful fund-raising aspects in the athletic arena. The officers of the Mercer Athletic Foundation are confident we have found someone who can provide the energy and leadership for our fund-raising efforts,” said Diane Owens, president of the Foundation.

Lee, as a student at UGA, was awarded a University of Georgia Foundation Fellowship, the university’s premier academic scholarship program. Each class of Fellows consists of only 20 students. She earned her B.B.A. in finance and A.B.J. in broadcast news from the University of Georgia in 2009 and her M.B.A. in marketing and sports management from UGA in May 2010.

“I certainly look forward to working with Brittany in the continued development of our athletic program,” Cole said. “She has already experienced much success in fund-raising efforts with the Braves and UGA athletics. We are confident that those experiences will enable her to succeed at Mercer.”
