Football returns to Mercer University in Macon this weekend. On Sept. 9, the No. 20-ranked Mercer Bears will face the Morehead State Eagles at 7 p.m. at Five Star Stadium. Here are three things to know before you go.
The Bears are hungry for a win
Coming off a rough road game, the Mercer Bears are looking for redemption during their first matchup at home. History is on their side. Mercer has a winning record for home openers, and in last year’s game against Morehead State, the Bears beat the Eagles by a whopping 63-13. Morehead State will be out for revenge, but Mercer is eager to not let that happen.
Tailgating returns to Black Field
Fans are invited to tailgate on Black Field before the game. Festivities start at noon and include the Fall Line Bear Garden, where fans ages 21 and older may enjoy locally brewed craft beer, and Dr Pepper Fansville, where kids can jump and play on inflatables. Country artist Spencer Crandall takes the stage for the Ford Football Concert Series at 3 p.m., followed by the Bear Walk at 4:30 p.m. and country musician John Langston at 4:35 p.m. Find out more about the Mercer football game day experience at mercergameday.com.
