Mercer is looking forward to claiming its sixth win in a row when the Bears take on the Virginia Military Institute Keydets on Saturday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. at Five Star Stadium. Here are three things to know before you go.
Polls rank Bears in top 20

Mercer is ranked No. 14 and No. 17 in the Football Championship Subdivision, according to the American Football Coaches Association and Stats Perform Top 25 polls, respectively. A win against Southern Conference foe VMI this week will make the Bears the top team in the conference. Mercer (5-1, 4-0 SoCon) currently is tied for first with Western Carolina, which is on a bye week.
Brent Cobb headlines game day concert

Pre-game festivities start at 10 a.m. on Black Field, culminating at 12:45 p.m. with a performance from Americana musician Brent Cobb, who recorded his 2023 album “Southern Star” at Mercer Music at Capricorn’s Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon. His latest album, “Ain’t Rocked in a While,” was released earlier this year. Leading up to the show, fans can enjoy the Fall Line beer garden and Dr Pepper Fansville, featuring inflatables for kids. At 12:30 p.m., join us for the Bear Walk as the football team, band and cheerleaders make their way to Five Star Stadium.
It’s Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day

Mercer University will celebrate Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day this game day. Each employee is offered up to six football and meal tickets. Registration is not required. The party begins at noon on Black Field, with food catered by Satterfield’s BBQ, and will move to Five Star Stadium at 2:30 p.m. to cheer on the Bears. Mercer Athletics also will pay tribute to the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. armed forces for Military Appreciation Day.
