ATLANTA — Mercer University’s Department of Informatics and Mathematics in the College of Professional Advancement will host the 8th Annual Informatics Day on Feb. 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Administration and Conference Center, Room 190, on Mercer’s Atlanta campus. This year’s theme, “Informatics in the Age of AI: Prompt, Compute, Career,” invites attendees to explore how artificial intelligence is shaping professional work and opening new career pathways across industries.
As AI becomes increasingly embedded in healthcare, finance, technology and research, Informatics Day will help students understand how their classroom learning connects directly to real-world applications. The program brings together Mercer alumni, career development professionals and industry experts to share practical insight and professional experiences.

“Informatics in the Age of AI is an exciting opportunity for students to see how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of healthcare, technology and data-driven careers,” said Dr. Awatef Ben Ramadan, associate professor of health informatics and program coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in IT and Informatics. “The event brings together informatics alumni, faculty and industry professionals to share real-world experiences and practical insights. Students will hear firsthand how AI and machine learning are being used in everyday professional settings, learn about internships and career resources and connect with professionals who were once in their place. Informatics Day 2026 is designed to inspire, inform and help students build meaningful connections that can support their academic and career goals.”
Attendees of Informatics Day 2026 will have the opportunity to:
- Hear from informatics alumni who have built careers in health informatics, data management and IT
- Learn about internships, career planning and professional resources through Mercer’s Center for Career and Professional Development
- Connect with industry professionals from organizations including Visa, PayPal, Profound Medical and Illumina
- Discover how AI and informatics skills translate into roles across healthcare, science, business and technology
The Mercer alumni panel will highlight personal career journeys and show how informatics skills grow into meaningful professional roles after graduation. Sharing their experiences are three graduates of the College of Professional Advancement: Olivia Morris, M.S. Health Informatics ‘24; Corey Glaze, ’24; and Paula Del Rio Bustamante, ’25, graduates of M.S. Applied Data Intelligence and Machine Learning.
The free event is open to the Mercer community — including students, faculty, friends and family — and is designed to make AI feel relevant, practical, and connected to real futures. Registration is not required, but it is strongly recommended.
