MACON/ATLANTA — Mercer University honored faculty and staff for their years of service at Retirement and Recognition Ceremonies in Macon and Atlanta.
In addition to honoring retirees and current employees who had reached service milestones, one Mercer Spirit Award was presented at each of the ceremonies. The Spirit Award recipients were Cristina Petruso, administrative support specialist for the computer science department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at the Macon ceremony on April 9; and Amanda Burton, executive assistant to the dean in the McAfee School of Theology, at the Atlanta ceremony on April 7.
The Mercer Spirit Award is a community-based recognition that reaffirms Mercer’s commitment to customer service and satisfaction and recognizes employees who exhibit exceptional behaviors of caring, respect and the building of the Mercer community. It also recognizes two employees who have demonstrated a high level of service to members of the University community, both internal and external, as well as outside constituencies. Their accomplishments reflect a high level of service, dedication, conscientiousness and compassion, and going beyond normal expectations.
At the Macon ceremony, retirees honored included Thompson Biggers, Fred Bongiovanni, Larry Brumley, Sandra Bryant, Wallace Daniel, Jonathan Glance, Bob Mavity, Sam Peacock and Barbara Short; and retirees not participating in the Macon ceremony included Ian Altman, Pamela Benedict, Delores Collins, Cynthia Glance, Marsha Griffin, John Hawkins, Donna Hemphill, James Hunt, Susan Lumsden, Gary Mills, Vonda Peavy, Jack Richards, Maurice Solice, Loren Sumner, Margaret Symington and Frank Wood.
At the Atlanta ceremony, retirees honored included Lanell Bellury, Priscilla Danheiser, Carol Isaac, Leisa Marshall, Susan W. Miller and Colleen Stapleton; and not participating in the Atlanta ceremony was retiree Thomas Koballa.
