MACON/ATLANTA – Mercer University honored faculty and staff for their years of service at Retirement and Recognition Ceremonies in Macon and Atlanta.
In addition to honoring retirees and current employees who had reached service milestones, one Mercer Spirit Award was presented at each of the ceremonies. The Spirit Award recipients were Michelle Beavers, campus services coordinator, physical plant, at the Macon ceremony on April 25; and Denise Elam, director of field placement, dean’s office, College of Education, at the Atlanta ceremony on April 23.
The Mercer Spirit Award is a community-based recognition that reaffirms Mercer’s commitment to customer service and satisfaction and recognizes employees who exhibit exceptional behaviors of caring, respect and the building of the Mercer community. It also recognizes two employees who have demonstrated a high level of service to members of the University community, both internal and external, as well as outside constituencies. Their accomplishments reflect a high level of service, dedication, conscientiousness and compassion, and going beyond what are normal expectations.
At the Macon ceremony, retirees honored included Gary Collins, Debra Leahy, R. Scott Nash and Shirley Powell, and retirees not participating in the Macon ceremony included Beth Elderkin, Chester Fontenot, Robert Good, Eimad Houry, Hodge Jenkins, Mark Jones, Sylvia Layfield, Mary Alice Morgan, Michael Sabbath and Robert (Steve) Williams.
At the Atlanta ceremony, retirees honored included Brian Crabtree, Henry Heard, Clinton Terry and Willie Woolfolk, and retirees not participating in the Atlanta ceremony included Barbara Fleming, Robert Lamb, Zipangani Vokhiwa, Allen Wallace and Tracey Wofford.
