Artisha Wright recently graduated from Mercer University’s College of Education with a Master of Arts in Teaching in elementary education.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to work as a teacher in a Bibb County public school, where I’ll focus on supporting families of children with special needs, particularly those with autism and learning differences. I’ll also be volunteering in my community and local church to help serve and uplift those in need. My mission is to make a lasting impact both inside and outside the classroom.
Who was your favorite professor and why?
It’s hard to name just one favorite professor because each one I had truly rocked! They were consistently supportive before, during and after class. Whether it was answering questions, offering clarification, or pushing us beyond what we thought we could do, they always showed up. They were firm when needed but always grounded us in reminders of who we are and the potential we carry. I deeply appreciate their honesty, wisdom and unwavering belief in us. That kind of support made all the difference.
How do you plan on changing the world?
I plan to change the world by leading with kindness, breaking generational curses, and empowering children and families to thrive. Change starts with love, and I’m here to be that light.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Listen, you’ll face obstacles, but don’t let them stop you. Use every setback as a setup for growth and celebrate the small wins along the way. The journey matters just as much as the destination.
What makes Mercer special to you?
This place gave me more than an education. It gave me purpose, confidence, and the foundation to live out my mission of supporting children with special needs and their families. Mercer helped me find my voice, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.
