Beyoncé Francis is graduating from Mercer University’s College of Health Professors with a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will serve as an active duty Army officer.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Dr. Jennifer Crawford made me realize my love for chemistry even when I thought that I was not good at it. Her active teaching style and supportive feedback fostered an environment where I felt safe to learn from my mistakes and motivated to improve my work. She made sure that no student felt left behind, while maintaining a positive outlook for the class throughout the entire semester. I will never forget Dr. Crawford for her incredible teaching and leadership.

What was your favorite class and why?

Exercise physiology was my favorite class at Mercer because I learned so much about the human body and how to optimize performance and rehabilitation. The principles I learned have allowed me to direct my own training in preparation for my physically demanding career. Additionally, I have learned a lot and am eager to improve my knowledge as I prepare for graduate programs in physical therapy.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love and self control. (2 Timothy 1:7)

What makes Mercer special to you?

Mercer’s Army ROTC program is my home and my heart. The program made me stronger and taught me how to lead with love and integrity in matters bigger than myself.
