Brittany Major, a 2022 graduate of Mercer University‘s College of Health Professions, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public health.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plans after graduation are to study for the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) and apply to medical school. While waiting for my applications, I plan to work at the Centers for Disease Control or Emory University Hospital.
Who was your favorite professor and why?
Dr. Gabrielle Darville-Sanders is an amazing professor. She is open and honest with her students, and she is truly someone you could always go too. Also, she would mentor her students and care about their mental health, which I really appreciated. Also I loved Dr. Mary Mathis and Dr. Suzie Madden. The Public Health Department truly cares about your success academically and mentally.
What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?
I have many favorite memories at Mercer, but winning the women’s volleyball Southern Conference regular season during my junior year and joining Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. during my senior year are two of my favorites.
How do you plan on changing the world?
I plan on changing the world by influencing many African-American children, especially those who have an interest in the medical field. I want to mentor them and present them with the same opportunities and resources I had at Mercer.
What makes Mercer special to you?
The friends and sisters I have made are truly special to me, especially knowing that I have built lifetime friendships. I will always cherish them and the great memories we created.
