Imani Choukair is graduating from Mercer University’s School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in industrial management.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be returning back to school to received my MBA in the fall.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor is Dr. Melinda Hollingshed, assistant professor of industrial engineering and industrial management. Throughout my time at Mercer, she has been both a mentor and an inspiring role model. Beyond academics, she is also my sorority sister!

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

One of my favorite memories from Mercer was Camp for a Cause. It was amazing to see all the organizations come together for a meaningful cause, and spending the night on Cruz wasn’t too bad either!

What advice do you have for incoming students?

I would tell the incoming freshmen to be intentional with everything you do, whether it’s building friendships, choosing your classes or thinking about your future. Every decision shapes who you are, even if you don’t realize it at the time. Also, remember to be patient with yourself, none of us have it all figured out, and that’s OK.

What makes Mercer special to you?

Mercer will always be special to me because it’s where I met one of my closest friends and discovered a part of who I am. It’s also where I had the pleasure of joining the Iota Eta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, which has shaped my college experience in so many meaningful ways.
