Kelly Hudson is a 2020 graduate of Mercer University‘s Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be working at Northside Hospital, Atlanta Campus, as a nurse in Labor and Delivery.
Who was your favorite professor and why?
Dr. Patricia Troyan, Dr. Toni Higgins, Dr. Portia Thomas, Dr. Jennifer Bartlett, Professor Fran Kamp and Professor Suzanne Applegate. It’s their enthusiasm for nursing and teaching that motivated me. Everyone was great!
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Breathe! Be open to new study methods. Be patient with yourself. Nursing school is an entirely new ballgame than your pre-req classes. I also prayed for an amazing nursing school tribe and was blessed with meeting them in my first semester. Support, support, support!
How did Mercer prepare you for your future?
The nursing program at the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing was tantamount in preparing me for a career in nursing. The lectures and clinical rotations were very thorough in building my nursing foundation.
What makes Mercer special to you?
The camaraderie, long-lasting friendships, amazing administrative staff, meeting my nursing school tribe and having amazing mentors!
