Khadijah Hardiman, a 2021 graduate of Mercer University‘s College of Professional Advancement, earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plan is to job search, spend time with my friends and family, and relax. Once I find a job in my field, I will be a licensed associate counselor. I am searching to find a job working with children, teens and young adults. My goal is to become a licensed professional counselor.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor was Dr. Kathy Robinson. She was very understanding, patient and caring. She made sure I got my practicum and internship hours together in the middle of the pandemic when sites were shutting down. She also prepared me for what counseling would look like outside of grad school. I thank her so much for her help.

What was your favorite class and why?

Play therapy was my favorite class because I like to get creative with clients. I love how playing with games, toys and drawings can be incorporated into therapy with children, and it is still therapeutic for them.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Trust the process.

What makes Mercer special to you?

The patience and the caring from professors. They took the time to understand students and made sure they succeeded.
