What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I will be attending law school in the fall of 2022.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

While at Mercer, Dr. Chris Grant has been one of the most instrumental professors in my education. Dr. Grant continuously provided me with opportunities to gain real-world experience in my field in addition to several research opportunities in class.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

My fondest Mercer memory has been being elected to the Student Government Association every year with some of my closest friends and creating my own on-campus organization named Women of Minorities Empowering the Neighborhood (W.O.M.E.N.).

What was your favorite class and why?

My favorite class was presidential primaries because this class can only be taught every four years, and there are only a few people selected to partake in the course. Throughout the class, we had the opportunity to analyze past and present presidential primary elections and meet presidential candidates during the Iowa caucus or New Hampshire primary. This class allowed me to meet almost every presidential candidate in 2020 and present my research at BEAR Day.

How do you plan on changing the world?

After successfully completing law school, I plan to practice civil rights and criminal law in hopes of protecting the lives and futures of minorities. Additionally, I plan to create a nonprofit organization that seeks to educate, mentor and empower young minority women who are interested in the legal profession.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

When I was a freshman, I was only 17 years old, and I was terrified of trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone. My advice to all incoming students would be to always challenge yourself to have new experiences. You should never be afraid of change because that is a part of maturing, and you will only regret the opportunities you did not at least attempt.

How did Mercer prepare you for your future?

Mercer has prepared me for my future by ensuring that I have a strong academic foundation, strong work ethic and exceptional leadership skills. Mercer has a unique ability to ensure all of its students are well-versed in each of these three areas in order to be the most competitive students entering the next phase of our lives.

What makes Mercer special to you?

Mercer is so special to me because it has always served as the gift that keeps on giving. At every possible turn, Mercer has ensured that I was ready for success academically and socially. Not only has Mercer provided me with various opportunities, but I now have such a large extended family!
