The Southern Conference office has announced the league’s spring football schedule, which features an eight-game conference-only schedule.

The league’s nine teams will complete the SoCon slate over nine weeks, wrapping up regular-season play on April 17.

“I’m an old Southern Conference guy, so I’m looking forward to getting back into this tough conference,” said Mercer football head coach Drew Cronic. “There’s a lot of great teams and coaching staff, so that will be extremely challenging to be competitive in the SoCon. Having coached at Five Star Stadium before, I know how passionate the fans here can be and how much of a home field advantage Mercer has. This is one of the best gameday experiences in the FCS, which is one of the top reasons I wanted to come lead this football team. I’m looking forward to having that great support behind us again this season and for seasons to come.”

Cronic’s Southern Conference debut with the Bears will come on the road at Wofford on Feb. 20. Mercer returns to Five Star Stadium the following week to host The Citadel on Feb. 27. After an open week, Mercer heads to Lexington, Va. to face VMI on March 13.

Starting on March 20, the Bears will play three of its final five games at Five Star Stadium. Mercer hosts Western Carolina on March 20 before traveling to Chattanooga on March 27. The Orange and Black will be home the first two weekends of April when they host Furman (April 3) and ETSU (April 10). Mercer closes the spring schedule out on April 17 at Samford.
