Mercer Theatre to Present ‘Fiction’ at Tattnall Square Center for the Arts Nov. 12-22

MACON – Mercer Theatre will present “Fiction” Nov. 12-22 at Tattnall Square Center for the Arts.

General admission tickets are $15, and $10 with a Mercer I.D. Advance purchase is recommended, but tickets will also be available at the door.

The new Tattnall Square Center for the Arts makes innovative staging possible for a unique theatre experience. “This will be Mercer's first ever theatre production with 'in the round' seating,” said Scot Mann, director. “It's an exciting addition to the nature of Mercer Theatre offerings and is unique to the local theatre scene.”

Hailed as an “elegant and rich theatre experience” by the New York Daily News, “Fiction” is about two successful writers, happily married to one another. They thrive on the give and take of their unusually honest and candid relationship. However, when they decide to share their diaries with one another, the boundaries between past and present, fact and fiction, trust and betrayal begin to break down. No life, as it turns out, is an open book. As playwright Steven Deitz asks, “Is it better to die with a secret, or to live with one?”

Performance times include Nov. 12-14 and Nov. 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. A Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. is available Nov. 15 and Nov. 22. For tickets, visit Tattnall Square Center for the Arts is located at 1096 College St. in Macon.

About Tattnall Square Center for the Arts

The Center opened this spring and serves as a community theatre and arts venue, as well as home to the University's Theatre Department. What was once a historic church that stood sentry for more than 100 years is now a carefully renovated multi-purpose arts space. Sunday School classrooms have been transformed into state-of-the-art teaching studios, a scene shop with a two-story loft, costume shop and storage and faculty offices.

The Center accommodates visual and performing arts, lectures, film screenings and workshops hosted by community arts organizations. For more information on the Tattnall Square Center for the Arts, contact Arts Center Coordinator Charise Stephens at (478) 301-2974 or
