Homecoming ScheduleMACON – Mercer will celebrate Homecoming this year with a week of student-focused events leading up to the University’s only home football game of the fall against Abilene Christian University on Oct. 31 at 3 p.m.

QuadWorks, Mercer’s campus activities board, dubbed this year’s Homecoming “The Legend of Mercer Hollow” with a slate of Halloween- and fall-themed activities Oct. 26-30.

“QuadWorks has been hosting two to three events per week, so they have had great practice for how to hold safe but engaging events,” said Meredith Keating White, assistant director of campus life and student involvement. “We’re so excited to be able to host a week of Homecoming events and continue our traditions in a safe and fun way.”

Approximately 20 teams of student organizations will compete throughout the week to be recognized alongside this year’s Homecoming royalty.

Team-only events include Monday’s banner competition at 12 p.m. in the Connell Student Center lobby and “The Addams Family vs. The Munsters” Family Feud at 7 p.m. in Willingham Hall, as well as Thursday’s “Boos Clues” Amazing Race at 6:30 p.m. on Cruz Plaza.

Tuesday’s movie night featuring “Halloweentown” and Friday’s Halloween Pageant, both at 8 p.m. on Cruz Plaza, are open to all students and will also include team pumpkin carving and costume contests, respectively.

This year’s Homecoming court will be presented after the Halloween Pageant on Friday at 9:30 p.m., with fireworks to follow.

Saturday’s pregame celebrations will take place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Black Field adjacent to Five Star Stadium leading up to kickoff versus Abilene Christian. Festivities include Macon-based band Hindsight performing at 1 p.m. and a watch party for those without tickets to the sold-out contest.

Gameday protocols include mandatory face coverings in outdoor settings whenever at least 6 feet of physical distancing cannot be maintained and gatherings limited to groups of 10 or fewer. All individuals inside Five Star Stadium must wear a mask unless they are actively eating or drinking.
