ATLANTA/MACON – Mercer University’s 2022-23 Executive Forum, presented by Truist, launches Oct. 19 with presentations by political analyst and journalist Amy Walter in Atlanta and Macon.

Walter, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Cook Political Report, will give a noon lunch presentation at the Capital City Club in Atlanta followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner presentation in the Presidents Dining Room on the Macon campus. Executive Forum events are by invitation only to members.

Walter contributes to “PBS NewsHour” with weekly political analysis for the “Politics Monday” segment and is also a contributor to PBS’ election and convention special coverage. She makes frequent appearances on CNN’s “Inside Politics,” FOX News Channel’s “Special Report with Bret Baier,” and is a regular Sunday panelist on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Walter’s political analysis has earned her accolades such as The Washington Post’s crystal ball for successfully predicting George W. Bush as the winner of the 2000 presidential election. She was also a member of CNN’s Emmy-winning coverage of the 2006 election.

In 2021, she was named one of “Washington’s Most Powerful Women,” following a 25-year career based in factual, unbiased work as a political analyst. Twelve years prior, she was named one of the top 50 journalists in Washington, D.C.

From 2017 until early 2021, she was the host of the weekly podcast “Politics with Amy Walter,” known for reporting on trends in politics long before the national media picked up on them.

Walter also adds former political director of ABC News to her extensive experience in journalism and politics.

Her work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Washington Post, among many other publications.

Walter was an inaugural fellow at the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago, where she now serves on the Board of Advisors.

Raised in Barrington, Illinois, she graduated summa cum laude from Colby College and was later awarded an honorary doctorate from her alma mater in 2017. She currently sits as a member of the college’s Board of Trustees.
