It takes a lot of people to make Mercer University the institution that it is. The students have and always will be the lifeblood of our University, but Mercer wouldn’t be Mercer without expert faculty members to pass on their knowledge and highly skilled staff members to manage day-to-day operations. Our “Worker Bears” series highlights the Mercer employees who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to care for our University and our students.

Meet Michael Junod

Title: Director of the University Center on the Macon campus

How long he’s worked at Mercer: 18 years

What he does: Junod directs the comprehensive, multi-purpose building operations for the University Center (UC). He coordinates, schedules and supervises all portions of the UC, including the arena, intramural courts, fitness center, Presidents Dining Room and Trustee Board Room. He also coordinates the logistical support of all events and activities to involve building engineering, maintenance and event staff.

What he loves most about his work: The University Center is one of the largest employers of students at Mercer, which means Junod interacts with a lot of Bears. “Working with the students and assisting with their growth and development in preparation for their chosen profession provides me the greatest satisfaction at work,” he said. “I enjoy hearing stories from our young alumni who tell us how their work experience in the University Center prepared them for their careers after they graduate. I am grateful for the opportunity to interact with so many Mercer students.”
