Downtown Macon is constantly growing with new restaurants, storefronts, offices and people. If you venture just two miles off Mercer University’s campus, you will run into our beautiful downtown, where there is no shortage of entertainment.

If you are staying in Macon this summer, or counting down the days until you’re back in town, we have some new places you have to check out!

Sixth Ave

Are you a fan of upscale vintage clothing and sneakers? Then Sixth Ave is just the place for you! This new SoHo-inspired shop recently opened on First Street, and I love its vibe and unique offerings.

Hotel Forty Five

And the best view in all of Macon goes to … Hotel Forty Five! With a rooftop bar, a trendy coffee shop, a delicious upscale restaurant and rooms for travelers to stay in, Hotel Forty Five is a shiny new gem in downtown Macon. The hotel is decorated to fit the city perfectly, as the walls are covered in Macon music history.

Pearl Passionate Cuisine & Cocktails

First Street is growing fast! Pearl Passionate Cuisine & Cocktails provides a taste of vacation in Middle Georgia. This fabulous restaurant opened in June and has already made a great impression on downtown Macon. Pro tip: Order the boiled peanut hummus. It will change your life!

Hello Boba Café

Are you a fan of boba tea? If so, this café will blow you away. You can’t go wrong hanging out here, with the fun environment and yummy drinks. Hello Boba Café has also introduced bubble waffle sundaes for summer, which are delicious. Grab one while you still can.

Macon Bagels

About six months ago, Macon Bagels opened on Third Street in downtown Macon. Since then, the business has stolen the hearts of foodies in Middle Georgia. With menu items ranging from rainbow bagels to ribeye biscuits to pastries, you cannot miss out on this. But get there early — they sell fast!

Vinyl shops

Music-lovers have two spots around downtown Macon to shop for records, CDs and collectibles. Fresh Produce Records is not a new business, but it’s getting a makeover this summer. It’s moved to Cherry Street and looks better than ever. A few miles over, Vertigo Vinyl just opened in Mercer Village in the same plaza as Francar’s Buffalo Wings and GPB Radio.
