WHO: Larry D. Thompson, deputy U.S. Attorney General
WHAT: Law Day luncheon 2002
WHEN: 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2002
WHERE: Macon City Auditorium, 415 First Street, Macon
WHY: Confirmed by the U.S. Senate as deputy attorney general on May 10, 2001, Thompson is a former partner in the Atlanta law firm of King & Spalding and is a previous U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. Since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Thompson has made few public appearances, and Mercer’s annual Law Day is an excellent opportunity to hear how the U.S. Justice Department has changed since that event. The Macon Bar Association will hold its regular meeting as a part of Mercer’s Law Day. Thompson will not be available for interviews, but his remarks are open for media coverage.
