WHY:              Macon attorney and Mercer law alumnus John E. James endowed a distinguished lecture series at Mercer that features the highly regarded Arbour as the keynote speaker this year. In a climate of terrorism and conflict abroad, Arbour will shed light on the topic of how effective international law is at bringing the perpetrators of terrorism to justice. A Canadian Supreme Court justice since 1999, Arbour is also an honorary professor at the University of Warwick in Coventry, United Kingdom, and a recipient of the Medaille de L’Universite de Montreal.
