ATLANTA — The College of Continuing and Professional Studies of Mercer University will hold a free information session on its new Master of Science in Public Safety Leadership program from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, on the University’s Atlanta campus. The event will be held in Room 213 of the Davis Building, 3001 Mercer University Dr., off I-85 just inside the northeast perimeter. Professors, administrators, and admissions and financial aid counselors will be available to talk with attendees.

The Public Safety Leadership graduate degree is the only one of its kind in Georgia. It augments all public safety disciplines and is designed for individuals who work in federal agencies, law enforcement, probation, parole, corrections, and fire rescue and prevention, or in the areas of anti-terrorism and homeland security.

Classes for the Master of Science in Public Safety Leadership program will begin this fall and will be held on weekday evenings on Mercer’s Atlanta Campus. The curriculum will include courses covering terrorism, disaster planning and response, and budgeting.

“Today’s public demands educated public safety leaders,” said Stacey L. Cotton, chief of police for the City of Covington and co-coordinator of Mercer’s Public Safety Leadership Program. “Mercer has stepped up to provide a comprehensive, integrated degree program that cuts across disciplines. The new master’s degree in Public Safety Leadership will provide current and future public safety leaders with the opportunity to learn the modern approaches to deal with current and future issues in public safety.”
