ATLANTA — Mercer University’s Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics will hold a free reception and information session for its new 16-month accelerated Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree as well as its Flexible MBA. The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead, 3300 Peachtree Road NE. Stetson School of Business and Economics Dean Roger C. Tutterow will speak about the programs. Faculty, alumni and admissions/financial aid representatives will also be available.
The new accelerated EMBA is designed for current and aspiring business managers who have a minimum of five years of professional work experience. Classes will be held on Friday afternoon and Saturday every third weekend, interspersed with online activities, allowing even the busiest professionals the opportunity to earn this advanced degree. Three off-campus retreats provide a concentrated study on specific business topics, including a 10-day international residency where students are immersed in a different culture while studying with top executives of companies successfully competing in the global market.
A hallmark of the new program is its innovative, thematically based curriculum. Rather than taking traditional courses in functional areas, such as accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing, students will learn to apply state-of-the-art tools in these areas to address complex problems of environmental analysis, value creation, global competition and corporate strategy.
Classes will be team-taught by faculty, who bring scholarly research and extensive business experience to the classroom. Students will learn through lectures, discussions, presentations, team projects, research and computer simulations, as well as from visiting business leaders. These executives will bring their insights and wisdom to the classroom as they talk about their companies and how they address the demands of competition in today’s marketplace.
The EMBA program provides networking opportunities for its students through The Executive Forum, a business-enrichment program offered by Mercer University for the past 27 years. This annual leadership series brings to Atlanta and Macon some of the nation’s most sought-after speakers while providing an opportunity to business leaders to interact and network with each other.
The Flexible MBA is a self-paced program that provides candidates with the flexibility to attain an advanced business degree without interrupting their careers. Classes are held one evening per week in eight-week sessions, allowing candidates to complete their degrees along a timeline they design.
The Stetson School of Business and Economics holds the highest level of accreditation available for business schools from AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only 25 percent of business schools in the world have earned this accreditation.
