Publisher of Atlanta Business Chronicle to Speak at Business School Honors Ceremony

ATLANTA — Ed Baker, publisher of the Atlanta Business Chronicle and Sporting News, will deliver the keynote address at Mercer’s Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics Honors Ceremony on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Trustees Dining Room on the University’s Atlanta campus. The ceremony recognizes the School’s honors graduates from its Atlanta-area undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as recipients of the distinguished faculty and Aprile M. Holland awards and inductees of Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society. 

For 23 years, Baker has been publisher of the Atlanta Business Chronicle, one of the country’s largest business journals with more than 180,000 readers each week. In addition, Baker is also publisher of Sporting News, the national sports magazine, along with its digital properties and radio network.  Baker grew up in Atlanta and is active in the community, serving on the boards of numerous foundations and organizations.

Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for business programs accredited by the Association of Accreditation of Collegiate Schools of Business-International.  Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student can receive in an undergraduate or master’s program at a school accredited by AACSB. Only students ranking in the top 10 percent of the undergraduate and top 20 percent of graduate programs at AACSB accredited schools are eligible for this invitation.  Once inducted, students are lifetime members.

Mercer’s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma will also name Baker as Chapter Honoree during the ceremony. To be named as Honoree, the nominee must have achieved distinction in business and administration and furthered the ideals of Beta Gamma Sigma through outstanding business and managerial leadership.
