The Mercer Bears take on the Wofford Terriers at 4 p.m. Oct. 21 at Five Star Stadium. Here are three things to know before you go.
Mercer looks to keep Wofford winless
The Bears are looking to prevent the Terriers from getting their first win this season, as Wofford tries to end its 0-7 losing streak. Both teams are coming off losses. Mercer lost at home to Chattanooga, while Wofford lost on the road at East Tennessee State University.
However, only one team will rally. Recent history is on the Bears’ side, with Mercer winning its last two meetings with Wofford.
Tailgating centers on Black Field
Mercer fans can start tailgating on Black Field when it opens for pregame festivities at 11 a.m. At the Fall Line Beer Garden, fans ages 21 and older may enjoy locally brewed craft beer. At Dr Pepper Fansville, kids can jump and play on inflatables.
The Ford Football Concert Series starts at 12:30 p.m. with country musician Josh Ross. Check out the Bear Walk at 1:30 p.m. before headliner Nate Smith takes the stage at 1:45 p.m.
Mercer employees will be treated to a special tailgate on Black Field for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. Each employee is offered up to six football and meal tickets. The party begins at 12:30 p.m.
It’s Military Appreciation Day
Mercer Athletics will honor past and present members of the military this weekend. Current and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces may receive tickets at a special rate through the Middle Georgia Seats for Service program. To claim your ticket, call (478) 952-1740. Mercer also will recognize its neighbors to the north as part of Monroe County Day.
