ATLANTA/MACON – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) recently extended accreditation of Mercer University’s business degree programs in the Stetson-Hatcher School of Business.

AACSB accreditation, earned by only 5% of the world’s institutions offering business degrees, is synonymous with the highest standards in business education. Once accreditation is achieved, each institution participates in a five-year continuous improvement peer-review to maintain high quality and extend its accreditation.

Mercer’s business school has been continuously accredited by AACSB for more than two decades.

“The extension of AACSB accreditation represents a true metric of the high-quality programs offered by the Stetson-Hatcher School of Business as well as the excellence and dedication of our faculty and staff,” said Dr. Julie Petherbridge, interim dean of the School. “I am excited by the successful completion of this process and looking forward to helping the college realize the promise of its future.”

Today, 862 institutions across 56 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation.

“AACSB congratulates each institution on their achievement,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor and peer-reviewed evaluation. During this multi-year path, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standard, including strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
