ATLANTA - Mercer University's McAfee School of Theology will hold the Inaugural Peter Rhea and Ellen Jones New Testament Lectures on Nov. 17 in Day Hall. The inaugural speaker, James D. G. Dunn, is a renowned New Testament scholar and will give two lectures, at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., titled "A New Perspective on Jesus" and "The New Perspective on Paul."

ATLANTA - Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has named Dr. Penny L. Elkins, as a teacher education faculty representative on the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, the organization that oversees all teacher certification for the state, as well as the accreditation of all teacher education programs in the state. She will be one of only two such representatives on the board.

MACON - The Mercer University Board of Trustees today gave the green light to a mixed-use residential/retail development on the Macon campus, approved three new graduate degree programs, and authorized the University to begin offering degree programs in the Forsyth-North Fulton area of metro Atlanta and in Newnan. The board also elected nine new members to replace those trustees whose terms expire this month.

ATLANTA - Mercer University's Georgia Baptist College of Nursing will add a Doctor of Nursing Practice to its graduate degree offerings in 2010. The College, based on Mercer's Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus in Atlanta, began offering a Ph.D. in Nursing Education this fall.
