Mercer University announces faculty and staff notables for April 2026.
Mercer University President Dr. Penny L. Elkins today announced the appointment of Mary Bowman Hampton as senior vice president for university marketing and Dr. Kathryn D. Kloepper as chief of staff.
Mercer University’s Center for the Study of Narrative will host a lecture by McAfee School of Theology’s Dr. Denise Massey, professor of pastoral care and counseling, on Wednesday, March 25, at 5 p.m.
Mercer University and Mercer Health Sciences Center are sponsors of the annual Atlanta Science Festival (ASF) — the city’s ultimate celebration of all things science and one of the largest of its kind in the country. The ASF culminates in Exploration Expo, a giant science bash on March 21 at Piedmont Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Phi Beta Kappa Society’s Zeta Chapter of Georgia at Mercer University will host the eighth annual Malcolm Lester Phi Beta Kappa Lectures on Liberal Arts and Public Life on March 30-31 in the Presidents Dining Room on the Macon campus.
Mercer University has been recognized among the top 25 institutions producing Gilman Scholars across the 25-year history of the Gilman Program, which provides merit-based scholarships to students with high financial need to study or intern abroad.
Mercer University’s Visionary Student Panel (VSP) will host a cohort of student changemakers presenting their visionary ideas designed to create meaningful impact on Mercer’s campus and in the Macon community, on Wednesday, March 18, at 6 p.m., in Willet Auditorium on the Macon campus.
Mercer University’s annual Bearstock outdoor music festival, presented by student programming board QuadWorks, will take place March 14 from 1-7:30 p.m, and include a free concert on the Macon campus, Cruz Plaza. The event is free and open to the community.
Dr. Vicki Britt has been named dean of the Mercer University School of Engineering, effective June 1. Currently serving as senior vice president of innovation, engineering and flight at Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Dr. Britt will retire from this role in May to begin her work at Mercer.
Mercer University Tift College of Education instructional design and technology graduate students Dominique Carter and Tamarra Smith were recently chosen for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Instructional Designer Internship Program.
