MACON - The firm that is planning the new design for the College Hill Corridor will present the results of its study of the area during a meeting in Newton Chapel on Mercer's Macon campus at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama's football team is No.1 in the country and plays a tough brand of football, but the Mercer men's basketball team came into Coleman Coliseum and used a huge 56-38 rebounding advantage to shock the Crimson Tide, 72-69 in non-conference men's basketball action Sunday night.
MACON - Recently released National Survey of Student Engagement results show that Mercer University students have a more engaged educational experience than students at its peer institutions and at Georgia's public universities.
MACON - Moving its Homecoming to the fall under the theme "Reconnect, Reunite, Rediscover," Mercer University is expecting scores of Mercerians and their families to come back to campus Nov. 21-23. In recent years, the University's Homecoming was held in the winter at the end of the basketball season. Now, the event will serve as a springboard to the exciting new season, highlighted by a clash against Atlantic Coast Conference power Georgia Tech.
MACON - The Mercer Student Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is campaigning to raise funds and awareness to fight the crisis of hunger and homelessness this week. The chapter is raising money for Oxfam and Habitat for Humanity as part of the national Hunger and Homelessness Week.
MACON - More than 95 percent of Mercer University School of Law graduates who took the Georgia Bar Examination for the first time in July passed, according to the annual report released Nov. 3 by the Georgia Office of Bar Admissions.
MACON-Two-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Sally Struthers stars in the 25th anniversary tour of "Nunsense" coming to Macon for two shows at The Grand Opera House, a performing arts center of Mercer University, Tuesday-Wednesday, Nov. 18-19. For the second straight season, Mercer sits one win away from the top of the A-Sun mountain, as a semifinal win over Jacksonville on Thursday gave the Orange and Black a spot in the Saturday's Atlantic Sun Championship Final in Kennesaw, Ga.

MACON - Freshmen at Mercer University are fighting hunger in the community by hosting the Second Annual Empty Bowls Event in Macon. The First Year Experience class, lead by Mary Ann Drake, Ph.D., is coordinating the efforts of local artists and restaurants to hold a dinner at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Tickets are $25 in advance and will include dinner and a handmade bowl. All proceeds will be donated to local organizations that have a positive impact on hunger fighting efforts in Macon.
