ATLANTA/MACON - Nationally syndicated radio host Neal Boortz will be the featured speaker at Mercer University's Executive Forum Presented by BB&T on Monday, Nov. 3. Boortz will give a lunch presentation at noon in Atlanta at the Four Seasons Hotel, 75 Fourteenth Street, and a dinner presentation at 6:30 p.m. at The University Center on Mercer's Macon campus.
MACON - Barrack Obama won Mercer University's Student Government Association-sponsored mock election on Oct. 28, but just barely. The Obama/Biden ticket took 49.6 percent of the vote to John McCain and Sarah Palin's 46.5 percent.
MACON - A new grant from the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation will help Stetson School of Business and Economics professor Scott Beaulier, Ph.D., advance the study of political economy at Mercer University. Dr. Beaulier, the department chair and assistant professor of economics, will give a special topics course for the spring semester and bring in a number of high-level economists to deliver lectures on contemporary issues in political economy.

Among the many activities planned for Homecoming Weekend at Mercer University, Nov. 21-23, will be the induction of three new members into the Mercer Athletic Hall of Fame. Former men's basketball player James Dartez Talbott, women's basketball player Laura Shamp and baseball player Mark A. Steinbeck will join the 137 members of the Hall of Fame. Carter made his remarks during the second annual Mercer University President's Lecture Series today on the Macon campus.
MACON - Paul Harvey, Ph.D., will present the 2008 Lamar Memorial Lecture Series of Mercer University, on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 3 and 4, on the University's Macon campus. Harvey, a history professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, will present three lectures around the theme: "Moses, Jesus and the Trickster in the Evangelical South." All lectures are free and open to the public.
