MACON - The Honorable Tom Ridge, former Secretary of Homeland Security and former Governor of Pennsylvania, will be the featured speaker at The Executive Forum on Thursday, March 9. He will give a dinner presentation at 6:30 p.m. at The University Center at Mercer University in Macon.
MACON, Ga. - With its first television game of the season coming up on Sunday, Feb. 26, against new in-state Atlantic Sun rival Kennesaw State, the Mercer women's basketball team is asking fans to pack three buses for the short ride up I-75.
Three buses with 150 available spots will depart from the Connell Student Center at 10 a.m. for Kennesaw State's campus with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up for a spot at the Student Center throughout this week and next. Students will be able to purchase a $1 tickets at the KSU Convocation Center with their Bear card; faculty and staff will also receive $1 tickets when presenting their Bear Card.
The game will be featured as the A-Sun/CSS Game of the Week, and will be broadcast throughout the Southeast. Fans are asked to wear orange and black for the game to show their support for the Bears on TV.
ATLANTA - Ashley Adams, a third-year pharmacy student at Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy, was one of six students nationally to be awarded the Zada M. Cooper Scholarship by the Kappa Epsilon (KE) Foundation. JACKSONVILE, Fla.- Behind a balanced offensive attack, the Bears placed five players in double figures as the Mercer men's basketball team topped first-year Atlantic Sun Conference member North Florida, 77-71, Sunday afternoon at UNF Arena.
"It was a big effort on both the offensive and defensive ends," said Mercer head coach Mark Slonaker. "Our guys really stepped up on both ends."

JACKSONVILE, Fla.- Andrew Brown and Ross Alacqua combined for five points inside the final 36 seconds of overtime as the Mercer men's basketball team opened its final road swing of the season with a 93-90 overtime decision past Jacksonville University Friday night in Atlantic Sun Conference action at Swisher Gymnasium. The Bears struggled to get untracked offensively in the early going, missing shots or committing turnovers in three of its first four possessions, as Jacksonville (1-24, 1-17 A-Sun) sprinted out to an 8-2 lead on the strength of a pair of 3-pointers by seniors Antonio Cool and Aubrey Conerly, sandwiched around a basket by Mario Brown.

MACON, Ga. - The University Center will be buzzing with basketball this weekend, as the Mercer women's basketball game scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, against Gardner-Webb has been moved from 2 p.m. to noon. The game time has been changed due to the GISA Class AAA State Basketball Tournament.
The girls' quarterfinals was held Friday night. The boys' quarterfinals will be Saturday, Feb. 18, with the first game slated for a 4 p.m. start.
