ATLANTA/MACON – Mercer University's 2013-14 Executive Forum, presented by BB&T, continues Thursday with a national economic forecast by John Jung, managing director of BB&T Capital Markets. He will make a noon lunch presentation at the Capital City Club in Atlanta and a 6:30 p.m. dinner presentation in the Presidents Dining Room of the University Center in Macon. These events are open to Executive Forum members and their invited guests.
A member of the executive committee at BB&T Capital Markets and the senior leadership team at BB&T, Jung focuses on integrating the BB&T Capital Markets platform with BB&T bank operations.
He has 24 years of experience in capital markets – the first 13 as an investment banker, fixed-income trader, and head of sales and training at Craigie Inc. (a merger partner of BB&T); and the last 11 as a member of the BB&T Capital Markets managing group.
Jung graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering. After two years in the management consulting practice at Ernst & Whinney, he returned to The Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, where he earned his MBA.
He serves on the board of directors of Scott & Stringfellow, is chairman of the Greater Richmond Chamber Foundation and a trustee of the Virginia Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
The Executive Forum's third installment, sponsored by Piedmont Healthcare, will take place on April 29 and feature Seth Blackley and Mike Cotton of Evolent Health, a national health care consultancy headquartered in Arlington, Va. They will present a panel discussion about the Affordable Care Act.
As president of Evolent Health, Blackley directs overall company strategy, product design, sales, marketing and business development. Previously, he was the executive director of corporate development and strategic planning at The Advisory Board Company, where he oversaw partnerships and acquisitions, key elements of new product development and other strategic growth initiatives.
Prior to joining The Advisory Board, Blackley was an associate at Bain Capital Partners, where he helped execute the 2006 buyout of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). He started his career as an analyst in the Washington, D.C., office of McKinsey & Company.
Blackley earned a bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with highest honors, and his MBA from the Harvard Business School.
With more than 25 years of managed care and care management experience, Cotton serves as regional president to Evolent Health's Southeastern U.S. markets. He joined Evolent most recently from Alere Health, where he was CEO for Alere's Health Management Division.
Before Alere, Cotton was a regional – and later, national – president for WellCare Health Plans, responsible for the management and direction of health plan operations covering 2.3 million members. He has also held roles as a market leader and a worldwide partner at Mercer Consulting as well as senior executive roles with other national and regional provider sponsored health plans.
Cotton holds bachelor's degrees from The Ohio State University and Franklin University, and an MBA in health management from Cleveland State University.
