What are your plans after graduation?

Grad school!

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

I think being a Peer Advisor has to be one of my favorite memories. Not only was I able to help the incoming class acclimate to college life, but they helped me grow as both a leader and a person. From all our crazy UNV classes to late night Barnes & Noble shenanigans to “Just Dance” nights in my apartment, I feel that this position gave me the opportunity to help them all make good first-year memories and feel more welcomed on campus!

How do you plan on changing the world?

I plan to continue with Alzheimer’s research and further explore how our Westernized diet is shaping the trajectory of the disease. I feel so prepared to take on this challenge after all the chances I have had here to further my own understanding of Alzheimer’s, the gut, and the impact processed/bioengineered foods have on both.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Don’t let your mind become your enemy! Go out and try/experience everything you can no matter how intimidating it may seem or how much your mind tells you to stay in your comfort zone! That is how I met some of the most amazing people and had some of the best experiences! Leave your comfort zone, even for a little while!

What makes Mercer special to you?

What makes Mercer special for me is the community that I have here. From academics to events, I have found so many people to connect with and become friends with throughout my time here. On top of that, I really enjoyed being able to connect with faculty. I have so many professors who I have gotten to know personally. They’ve all helped guide me to where I am and been the facilitators to each Mercer experience that has made my time here amazing. Research, Mercer On Mission, Peer Advisor dances, it was all so amazing and opened my eyes to everything I was missing out on. You can’t learn everything just from reading a book; sometimes you have to get out there and experience it yourself. Mercer holds a special place because it has provided me with these experiences that have shown me that.
