Anna Hale is graduating from Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in political science.

What are your plans after graduation?

I’m heading to UGA to pursue my Master of Public Administration!

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Dr. Chris Grant in the political science department. He has been my mentor and advisor at Mercer since day one and has gone above and beyond to help me find amazing opportunities within Mercer and beyond. I have had the pleasure of serving as his peer advisor in UNV 101 for three years. I also got to travel to New Hampshire, South Carolina and the Republic of Georgia with him for various classes. He is always willing to help his students succeed, and I am incredibly grateful for everything he has done for me during my time at Mercer.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

Traveling to the Republic of Georgia as a part of the Mercer On Mission program there! We planned and hosted a summer camp for Ukrainian refugee children living there as a result of the war in Ukraine and had the incredible opportunity to learn so much about both Ukrainian and Georgian culture.

What was your favorite class and why?

The presidential primaries class taught by faculty from the political science, journalism and communication studies departments. We got to travel to the New Hampshire and South Carolina primary elections to study the primary process and observe candidates up close. For a politics nerd like me, it was the coolest experience ever!

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Comparison is the thief of joy. Everyone in college is on their own journey, so focus on yours! Do the things that interest and excite you.
