Chamoya Wong, a Class of 2023 graduate of Mercer University‘s College of Professional Advancement, earned a Bachelor of Science in human services.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on getting my master’s degree in social work and continue on my journey to help others.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor was Jason Holloway, instructor of liberal and historical studies, because he is so educated and a great teacher. I have learned so much from him, and he made my Mercer journey one to remember. He was also always willing to help, and if he couldn’t, he’d reach out to someone else to ensure that I received what I needed.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

I have had so many great memories at Mercer; it’s hard to choose one. I think my study abroad experiences are definitely some great memories, and I will always remember my time in Guatemala and in Germany. Without Mercer I wouldn’t have gotten that opportunity, and I’m so thankful to my school.

How do you plan on changing the world?

I plan on changing the world by taking all the knowledge I have learned from my professors and all the research I have done to continue to educate myself so that I can make a change in the justice system. My goal is to work with the Division of Family and Children Services and implement better practices and changes to the system so that children can be placed in good homes and not be traumatized.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Never stop believing in yourself. Do that thing you want to do. Go that place you want to go. Life is not going to get easier. You’ve got this. Take advantage of all the resources Mercer has to offer. Mercer is a great school, and I am a proud Mercian.
