India Scott graduated from Mercer University’s Tift College of Education with a Bachelor of Science in Education in elementary and special education.

What are your plans after graduation?

I have accepted a position at Clayton County Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher. I also plan to return to Mercer for my master’s degree.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Jan Johnson, our academic advisor, has been a breath of fresh air. She sticks with you from the time you start orientation, and she is always available. She made this journey so easy.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

My favorite Mercer memory was walking through the doors of Mercer and taking the steps to starting my career.

How do you plan on changing the world?

I plan to teach tiny humans! Today’s children are tomorrow future.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Stay focused. Tift College of Education is fast paced, but you have a lot of support through Mercer. Utilize your resources, and always remember you are your best advocate. Take time to enjoy the journey.

What makes Mercer special to you?

To be honest, Mercer’s education program was such a breeze. The teachers were nice, and they helped along the way. My classes were prepared and registered each semester for me, which really made a difference because this is the first college I have known to relieve that stress.
